TIL to ramp up footwear production at Dewas plant

Leather products major, Tata International Ltd (TIL) is working on a plan to raise the production capacity of its Dewas-based plant near here to 25 lakh pairs of footwear in the next three years, a top executive said here today.

"At present, we are making seven lakh pairs of footwear in our Dewas plant and in the next three years we are working on a plan to raise this capacity to 25 lakh pairs," TIL's Assistant Vice President and Business Head, (Footwear Global Business) N Mohan told reporters.

He said that this scheme will generate employment for 4,000 people and the company will give preference to rural women.
 

Mohan also informed that the TIL has submitted a proposal to the state government to develop "Shoe City" in Dewas district wherein ancillary units for manufacturing upper part of shoes, soles and packaging will be set up.
