Time for enrolment in voters rolls extended again till Dec 15

The last date for enrolling new votersunder special summary revision of rolls has been extended till December 15, keeping January 1,2018 as the qualifying date, Chief Electoral Officer of Puducherry V Candavelou said here today

He said in a press release that the Election Commission issued the order to extend the date to register claims and objections upto December 15 in all 30 Assembly constituencies in Puducherry(23 segments) Karaikal (five) Mahe and Yanam (one each).

The last date for enrollment was first fixed at October 14 and was subsequently extended up to November 30.

Candavelou said in a release that the EC had also ordered conduct ofhouse to house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) under a special drive to collect family details of electors, door numbers, mobile numbers and e-mail IDs to give electors better services relating to electoral rolls.
 

Details of overseas electors who are already enrolled in the rolls would also be collected.

The CEO said the BLOs would capture these details on a pilot basis in five Assembly constituencies -- Raj Bhavan and Orleanpet in Puducherry region, Karaikal (south) in Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam.
