Time sought to complete super speciality block in Madurai

The Tamil Nadu government today sought six months time for completion of the super speciality block at the Government Rajaji Hospital here.

The time was sought in an affidavit filed by Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan in response to a contempt petition against him for not completing the block within six months as per orders of the court on March 9, 2017.

He submitted that the project manager had said work on the ground floor and first floor of the facility had been completed and they were ready for installation of equipment.

The Health Secretary further submitted that the civil works would be fully completed by March this year and sought six months time from February 1.
 

Justices Sathyanarayanan and R Hemalatha directed the Secretary to file an affidavit mentioning the exact reasons for the delay in the project on February 22.
