Fey, who wrote the 2004 film's screenplay and also played a part in it, discussed the possibility of the upcoming musical on the SAG awards red carpet on Sunday, reported E! Online.

"Maybe! We want to. I would love to! I'm trying to develop it with my husband, who does all the music for 30 Rock and I think Paramount's onboard," said Fey.

Married to Fey since 2001, Jeff Richmond composed music for Saturday Night Live before leaving to work and also produce for '30 Rock'. Frequently collaborating, Richmond also scored his wife's film 'Baby Mama'.

Fey has previously talked about a 'Mean Girls' musical.

She wrote the screenplay for the film, also starring Amanda Seyfried, Rachel McAdams and Amy Poehler, that was adapted from the book 'Queen Bees and Wannabes' by Rosalind Wiseman. The film was directed by Mark Waters for Paramount Pictures.
