Tines of swamp deer seized in raids

A forest department team today seized four 125-year-old tines of swamp deer during raids conducted on the directives Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, an official said here.

On the directives of the Women and Child Welfare Minister a team led by assistant forest conservator Rameshwar Tiwari raided houses of accused Subhash Chandra and Shishir Srivastava in Radhakund locality, sub divisional forest officer Gopal Ojha said.

During the raid, three tines of adult swamp deer were seized from Chandra's house and one was found at Srivastava's place, he said.

The Forest department has lodged a case under Indian Wildlife Act Act 1972 against the accused and initiated a probe, he said.
