Union Minister Anil Madhav Dave today said the 'Tiranga Yatra' being taken out in the country from August 9 to 23 is aimed at enhancing spirit of patriotism and remember the martyrs whose sacrifices resulted in India's freedom.

"The 'Tiranga Yatra' being taken out as part of 'Jara Yaad Karo Qurbani' programme is aimed at enhancing spirit of patriotism and in memory of those whose sacrifices resulted in the country's freedom," the Environment and Forest Minister said addressing a rally here.

Dave and Madhya Pradesh PWD minister Rampal Singh were leading the 'Tiranga Yatra' from Sehore's 'Shaheed Sthal' at Saikdakhedi village to Bhopal.

"We have to prove their (freedom fighters) sacrifices right by our nationalistic works and dedication," Dave added.

Earlier Dave and Singh offered tributes at erstwhile Narsinghgarh state's Kunwar Chain Singh's memorial. Chain Singh laid down his life fighting the British in Sehore on July 24, 1824.

The ministers also garlanded the statue of freedom fighter Beni Prasad Rathore on the occasion.

Besides, they also paid tributes at 'Shaheed Sthal' where 356 soldiers led by Mahavir Khode and Balishah were killed for revolting against the British on January 14, 1858.
