Titanium slag plant likely to be ready by July 2016

Odisha government today said the proposed Titanium slag plant in Ganjam district is likely to be ready for commission by July 2016.

Kolkata-based Saraf Agencies has already started work on the project from January 2014 after permission from the state government in September, 2013, Industries Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said replying to a question in the Assembly today.

He said the Titanium plants would be set up in three different phases. While the High Titanium Slag Plant of 1,800 TPA was scheduled to be completed within 18 months from the government's approval, another with an additional capacity was to be completed within two years in the second phase.
 

From these units it has been proposed to produce 30,000 TPA high titanium slag, he said.

The state-level Single Window Clearance Authority has also approved the SAPL's proposal of setting up a 15 MW captive power plant and 2.5 TPA scandium oxide and 5,000 TPA ferro titanium plant, he said.

On the employment potential, Mishra said 80 skilled, 125 unskilled and 40 supervisory level personnel were now engaged in the construction stage as per the SAPL's information.

Besides, 50 technical persons hired from China, were engaged in titanium plants installation, he said.
