Trinamool Congress-backed unions have failed to put up an impressive performance in the railway union elections in West Bengal, finishing overall third in the three zones.
Contesting for the first time, the TMC-backed union captured 11.65 per cent votes in the election in Eastern Railway and 5.21 per cent votes in South Eastern Railway.
It's vote share in Metro Railway was, however, 23.59 per cent.

The Congress-backed union secured 36.11 and 27.43 per cent votes in the Eastern Railway and Metro Railway respectively.
The Congress-backed South Eastern Railwaymen's Congress (SERMC) came first in the South-Eastern Railway capturing 45.32 per cent votes, followed by left-backed SERMU, which has captured 41.70 per cent votes.
The elections in the railway zones were held between April 25 and April 27 and results were declared yesterday.
