Thane Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal today presented the 2018-19 Budget with an annual outlay of Rs 3695 crore, with a small surplus of Rs 35 lakh.
In good news for Thaneites, no new taxe or cess was proposed in the Budget.
"The revenue income of the corporation has gone up from Rs 1377 crore in 2014-15 to the proposed Rs 2650 crore for the period 2018-19 and there was a rise of 13 per cent as compared to the last year," Jaiswal said while presenting the Budget in the general body of the TMC.
Listing out various sources of income, the civic chief said Rs 811 crore is expected from the GST and other LBT, Rs 737 crore from Development taxes, Rs 554 crore from Property tax, Rs 155 crore from water cess, Rs 125 crore from PWD, and Rs 110 crore from Fire Taxes.
He said a total of Rs 3695 crore expenses are expected under various heads like Solid Waste Management, Services, Roads, Subways and Parking, Water Supply, Heath etc.
