Thane Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal has asked the civic body's officials to adopt one public toilet each in the city and ensure its upkeep.

Addressing a meeting of the civic officials here on Saturday, Jaiswal said he wanted the public and the community toilets in Thane, which is a part of the government's 'smart city' project, to be kept in order.

He asked all the civic officials to adopt one public toilet each in the lake city and ensure its proper maintenance, according to a release issued by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).

Jaiswal also directed the officials to ensure by this month-end that the toilets have sufficient water, power connection with lighting arrangement and proper sewerage discharge facility.
