The Trinamool Congress tonight complained to the Election Commission observer and police about the Congress candidate from Moina assembly seat in East Midnapore district campaigning in the constituency till this afternoon for tomorrow's polls, long after expiry of the campaigning time yesterday.

The SDPO confirmed lodging of the complaint by the local TMC against Manik Bhowmik and said the same has been forwarded to the EC for follow-up action.

District election office sources too confirmed such a complaint has been lodged and forwarded to EC.

The complaint further pointed out Section 144 CrPC was already in force in the district in view of tomorrow's polls, the sixth and final phase of assembly elections in West Bengal.

However, Congress denied the charge.
