With the names of TMC leaders cropping up in the Maniktala clash, local TMC MLA and state minister Sadhan Pande denied their involvement.
"The TMC has no link to the clash in Maniktala incident. This is clash between locals," Pande said
Local CPI(M) leadership had alleged the the clash was a result of infighting between two groups of TMC leaders.
Around 28 persons including six women were arrested for allegedly involved in a clash between two groups from two paras in Manicktala Police Station area in the south eastern part of the city today.
Several locals besides, a few policemen including one senior officer were injured while trying to tackle the clash, who pelted stones, acid-bottles at each other during the clash over a football match played yesterday on occasion of the Independence Day celebrations.
