"The dream of turning Dooars and Darjeeling into Switzerland has been shattered. What had been promised by the new government have not been delivered," Bose said at a rally organised by Paschimbanga Adivasi Adhikar Mancha, a newly-floated front of CPI(M).
"Adivasis are peace loving people and they know how to remain happy. But if they are cheated, they can rise in revolt," Bose said while calling upon the tribals in the state to take the path of agitation against the Trinamool Congress government for allegedly not fulfilling promises made to them.
Leader of Opposition Suryakanta Mishra, who was the panchayat minister during the Left Front rule, said,"No one has ever given the tribals their rights."
"Their (tribals) right to education, jobs and on forest products have always been ignored," Mishra said.
"The Chief Minister (Mamata Banerjee) claims all development work has been completed but if someone questions that claim in a public rally, she brands him a Maoist and the person is arrested by the police," Mishra said.
He claimed several tea gardens in the Dooars area in north Bengal are closed and their workers are not getting the doles which had been introduced by the previous LF government.
