Everybody involved in holding panchayat election in West Bengal was having a tough time because of Trinamool Congress government's interference in the work of the State Election Commission (SEC), CPI(M) Politburo member and Left Front chairman Biman Bose said today.

"Responsibility has to be shared in a democracy and that responsibility is clearly demarcated," Bose told reporters on the side lines of a party programme here in Malda district.

"But the state government is not willing to work in that framework and has been interfering in the work of the SEC creating problems for all," he said.

To a question, he said no comparison should be drawn between the 34-year-rule of Left Front and Trinamool's two-year regime.

"This government has throttled democracy after coming to power. Mastan-raj is on in the state," he said adding crores of public money was being wasted in programmes, which were not required.
