Going against the official party stand that CBI was being used as a political tool to corner Trinamool Congress, party MLA Sabyasachi Dutta today said there must be a reason behind the summons issued by the investigation agency to TMC general secretary.

"It has to be understood that when there is smoke there has to be fire. There must be a reason behind the CBI summon," Dutta told a news channel while reacting to arrest of TMC leaders and summons to TMC general secretary Mukul Roy in connection with the Saradha ponzi scheme scam.

"I knew Saradha Group Chairman Sudipta Sen ... I knew Goutam Kundu (of Rosevalley) too. I personally knew Kunal Ghosh (suspended TMC MP now in custody). Fortunately or unfortunately he(Ghosh) didn't name me before CBI. Neither SIT called me (in connection with the Saradha scam) nor will I be."

When asked whether he was planning to leave the party, Dutta said "Till now I am a TMC MLA. And I will remain a party MLA till the party decides to expel me,".

Dutta's comment is opposite to official stand of TMC which has said CBI was being used by BJP to corner the party's regime in Bengal.

His comment comes in the backdrop of several TMC leaders including MP Dinesh Trivedi and Debabrata Bandopadhaya making anti-party statements in the recent past.
