A Trinamool Congress MP today urged the government to celebrate 100 years of Rabindranath Tagore's book on nationalism, considering the prevailing situation in the country.
Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Bose said Tagore's idea of nationalism must be celebrated when "engines of coercion are snuffing out lives of people" in the name of nationalism, in an apparent reference to incidents of lynchings.
Talking about Tagore's idea of nationalism, Bose said the government should celebrate 100 years of his book, 'Nationalism', a collection of essays on the issue that was published in 1917.
