Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien today condemned the vandalisation of a church in Delhi and urged residents of the national capital to protest against it.

"Disturbing pattern of targeted arson. Delhi church tabernacle desecrated. No progress on burnt church SIT. Polarize before polls? #shame", O'Brien, TMC national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member tweeted.

He told PTI that, "The incident has to be strongly condemned. I urge the people of Delhi to strongly protest against it."

A church was vandalised by some unidentified persons today in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area, sparking outrage among the Christian community, which alleged that it is part of a "hate campaign".

The incident at St Alphonsa's church came just five days ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections on Saturday.
