Trinamool Congress MPs and leaders today staged a protest against the BJP-led Central government for "targeting" West Bengal government.

During the protest, called by All India Trinamool YUVA, the agitators raised slogans against the BJP and Centre.

"The message we made today to BJP is very clear. Don't target West Bengal for political reason..Don't give us lectures on patriotism.

"West Bengal has a history of living in communal peace and communal harmony. And, whether you are Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Punjabi or Parsi..It doesn't matter. Mamata Banerjee knows one kind of person, and that is Indian," TMC MP Derek O'Brien told reporters here.

In the protest at the Jantar Mantar, as many as 20 TMC MPs participated in the demonstration.

O'Brien said that since BJP has come to power, it has not fulfilled a single promise.

"We have come here to protest against BJP-led Central government...We have several issues and that is why we are staging the protest today," he also said.

TMC leaders - Mukul Roy, Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Kakoli Ghosh were among the senior leaders who joined the protest.

All India Trinamool YUVA national president Abhishek Banerjee said, "We are protesting against issues like communal violence, price rise, anti-people policies, crony capitalism, killing federalism and false promises.
