TMC officials, woman booked for cheating

Twelve persons, including some officials of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB), were booked for allegedly forging documents and transfering property tax on the name of one of the accused here, police said today.

According to complaint lodged by carpenter Harishkumar Mourya, who owned a shop here, yesterday, one Savitri Harijan connived with Hussain Abdul Rehman Badhshah and tranferred his shop on her name, assistant police inspector at Rabodi police station N R Mahadik said.

Mourya further alleged that when he delved into the matter, he found out that there is no such person named Badhshah exists and the woman forged the documents with the help of officials of Thane municipal corporation and MSEB.
 

Besides Savitri Harijan, case has been registered against notary Surinder Rao, former assistant municipal commissioner of Utalsar Ward office Ashok Burpulle, ward officers Arvind Panchal, Suresh Rajput, MSEB assistant engineer and other six persons, the officer said.

They were booked under relevant sections of IPC, including section 166 (public servant disobeying law), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 465 (punishment for forgery), 471 (using as genuine a forged 1 [document or electronic record]).

No arrests have been made so far and further investigations were underway.
