In the backdrop of turf war at New Town, a satellite township on the outskirts here, where milking builders in the name of building material supply at a premium is common practice, the ruling Trinamool Congress today warned partymen of strong action for involvement in it.

"The party is in no way connected with syndicates. I have heard that syndicates are set up by landlosers. The party is not going to tolerate any involvement of partymen in such syndicates," Trinamool Congress General Secretary Mukul Roy told PTI here.

Roy's warning came amid a Trinamool Congress faction clash in New Town over syndicates allegedly managed by supporters of party MLA, Sabyasachi Dutta, and MP, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.

Roy later issued a similar warning at a meeting called in the Assembly during the day where Ghosh Dastidar, Dutta and North 24-Parganas party president Jyotipriya Mullick were present.

In party forums, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has warned Trinamool Congress leaders against beong involved in syndicates.

A few people were injured on June 7 when two groups dealing in construction materials clashed in a dispute over supply at New Town.
