Activists allegedly belonging to ruling Trinamool Congress today assaulted a team of state government officials for pulling down party posters, flags in Kasundia under the Shibpur police station, police said.

A team of officials from the sub-divisional land revenue department, pulled down posters, flags and banners of the TMC put up in front of a polling booth here, as per the Election Commission directive, police said.

Workers "belonging to TMC" then arrived at the spot and allegedly abused and assaulted the officials, they said.

Howrah DM Subhanjan Das ordered SDO Baniprasad Das to look into the officials' complaint in which, they have, however, not mentioned any political party's name, sources said.

Incidentally, Habra II block development officer, Dinabandhu Gayen was allegedly assaulted by TMC MLA Dhiman Roy for removing party posters and banners from a PWD road on Sunday.
