TN announces solatium for victims of road mishap

Tamil Nadu government today announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh each to the next of kin of victims killed in a road accident at Ariyalur on Friday.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa announced that the relief will be paid to kin of 13 victims from the Chief Minister's General Relief Fund. She expressed her sympathies with the families of the deceased.

Expressing grief over the accident involving a government bus and a lorry, Jayalalithaa also wished speedy recovery of the 23 injured persons.

She said she had directed the district administrations of Ariyalur and Thanjavur to provide best medical treatment to the injured.
 

She also announced a relief of Rs 25,000 for the seriously injured and Rs 10,000 to those who had sustained simple injuries.

The accident occurred when the bus the victims were travelling in collided with a concrete mixer lorry. Those killed included women and children.
