Tamil Nadu Assembly session will begin on August 24 for the first time after Jayalalithaa returned as Chief Minister for the fifth time following her acquittal by Karnataka High Court in the disproportionate assets case in May.

The House will meet at 10 am on August 24, Assembly Secretary AMP Jamaludeen said here in a release.

During the session, demands for grants to government departments will be taken up.

The last session was held between March 25 and April 1 when O Panneerselvam was the Chief Minister.

The session begins against the background of sustained campaign and protests seeking prohibition by Opposition parties and voluntary outfits.

The Business Advisory Committee will decide the schedule of the session.
