The Tamil Nadu government has taken steps to provide infrastructure facilities at a cost of Rs 30 crore at the proposed Aerospace Park near here, the state assembly was informed today.

Announcing this, Industries Minister M C Sampath said the park, to come up on a 267 acre site at Vallam-Vadagal SIPCOT Industrial Park in Sriperumbudur in neighbouring Kancheepuram district, would attract investments of Rs 1,000 crore over a five year period.

"Action is being taken to provide basic infrastructure facilities -- roads, streetlights and storm water drain at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore in this Park," he said.

Early this year, the government said it had allocated land for 14 companies to set up office in the park where an Advanced Computing and Design Engineering Centre at an outlay of Rs 350 crore had also been planned.

Tamil Nadu Industries Development Corporation (TIDCO) had planned the aerospace park in a move to help the growth of industry.

The park once becomes operational would create 10,000 direct and 25,000 indirect jobs, it added.
