A three-member delegation from Tamil Nadu unit of BJP today met party president Rajnath Singh and impressed upon him that India should not participate in CHOGM in Sri Lanka next month.

The meeting came against the backdrop of reports about a few BJP leaders voicing their support for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's participation in the Commonwealth Summit and protests have intensified in Tamil Nadu demanding India boycott CHOGM.

"We have conveyed the sentiments of Tamil Nadu people over the Commonwealth summit in Sri Lanka to our party chief. We have urged that India should not participate in CHOGM and the Prime Minister must not go to Sri Lanka," senior party leader L Ganesan told PTI.

Ganesan was part of the delegation that comprised Tamil Nadu BJP president Pon Radhakrishnan and senior leader Lakshmanan.

He emphasised India's presence in CHOGM summit in Sri Lanka would legitimise the alleged atrocities by the island nation against ethnic Tamils.
