TN BJP slams Thambidurai over alleged criticism of Modi

Press Trust of India Chennai
BJP today hit out at AIADMK leader and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai for reportedly criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"It is strange and unbelievable that a senior MP holding the post of Deputy Speaker claims that their MPs are unable to meet the Prime Minister.

"It is in everyone's knowledge that several MPs and non MPs from Tamil Nadu have met the Prime Minister in the recent past with proper appointments," Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan said in a statement here.

She said it was "inferred" that AIADMK MPs did not follow proper procedures of taking appointments, which is necessary to meet Modi.

"When the Prime Minister has already met our Chief Minister (O Panneerselvam) and assured him of all support to Tamil Nadu government on Jallikattu issue where is the need for meeting all your MPs on the same matter," she said.

Soundararajan also asked Thambidurai to withdraw his comments on Modi and termed it "regrettable" and "condemnable."

Tamil Nadu is duty-bound to thank Modi for facilitating the "historic" ordinance on Jallikattu across four central ministries with each of them clearing the file within a few hours, she said.
