TN CM announces solatium to family of deceased mahout

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami today announced a solatium of Rs five lakh to the family of the mahout who was trampled to death by a female elephant at a temple near Tiruchirapalli recently.

Palaniswami expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and said Rs five lakh would be given as solatium, an official release said.

On May 25, the nine-year old elephant 'Masini' of the famous Arulmigu Mariamman temple at Samayapuram trampled mahout Gajendran to death.

The elephant was donated to the temple in 2016 by former Chief Minster and AIADMK supremo the late J Jayalalithaa coinciding with her birthday.
