Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has regularised the services of 8184 personnel working in various temples under the State-run Hindu Religious and Endowments Department and have them sanctioned time-scale pay.

As a token of giving time-scale pay orders for 8184 personnel, Jayalalithaa handed over the orders to three of them, an official release said here today.

On August 12, last year, she had told the State Assembly that 8,184 personnel worked for daily wages and on consolidated pay for temples under the control of HR and CE Department.

They had been working for over five years in temples and had appealed that their services be regularised, she had said.

Jayalalithaa had announced last year that their services would be regularised considering their family circumstances and based on norms including eligibility.
