Gopinath surrendered before Denkanikotta Judicial Magistrate Palaniammal, who holds additional charge of Hosur Judicial Magistrate court. Accepting his plea, the Magistrate recalled the NBW and granted him bail on the condition that he appears regularly for hearings in the case.
The Magistrate presiding over the JM court in Hosur in the district yesterday ordered issue of NBW against Chiranjeevi and Gopinath for not appearing for hearings in the case and adjourned the matter to August 2.
Chiranjeevi, who has a sizeable fan following in Hosur, campaigned for Gopinath in the town and surrounding areas like Bagalur, Berigai and Soolagiri during March last year.
Bagalur police registered a case against six persons, including Chiranjeevi and Gopinath, for alleged violation of election rules.
Although the other four accused have been regularly appearing for the hearings, Chiranjeevi and Gopinath failed to be present following which the NBWs were ordered.
