: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam and Makkal Needhi Maiam founder and actor Kamal Haasan today congratulated R Praggnanandhaa for becoming the world's second youngest chess Grand Master.
"I extend my congratulations to R Praggnanandhaa for becoming the world's youngest Grandmaster and making the country proud," Panneerselvam said on his official Twitter account and also shared an image of the boy.
In a statement, Haasan extended his congratulations to the 12-year old Chennai player and said "it was no mean feat".
He spoke to Praggnanandhaa's father Rameshbabu and praised him for encouraging the boy's dreams, the statement said.
Also, the actor-politician was quoted as saying that he was ready to extend his support for the boy.
The Chennai lad became the country's youngest and the world's second youngest Grand Master at the age of 12 years, 10 months and 13 days while playing in the Grendine Open in Italy.
