The Tamil Nadu Fireworks and Amorces Manufacturers Association Saturday decided to hold a demonstrationin front of the collectorate here on December 22 to protest against the restrictions imposed by the Supreme Court on bursting crackers
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the association here.
The association members along with workers would participate in the protest.
Around three lakh workers were involved in manufacture of fireworks in Sivakasi alone, the association said.
In October, the apex court had ordered that bursting of firecrackers on Deepavali and other festivals would be only from 8 PM to 10 PM and had also insisted on making green crackers.
The association secretary Mariappan said the members felt it was not feasible to make green crackers for such a large volume of consumers.
