Tamil Nadu government today asserted that the state government was opposed to Centre's proposed privatisation of Salem Steel Plant, and said it will continue to urge the Union government against any such move.
Speaking in the state assembly, Labour Minister D Nilofer Kafeel said Chief Minister K Palaniswami had earlier written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue.
She recalled he had opposed the privatisation of Salem Steel Plant, a public sector undertaking.
"Tamil Nadu government will continue to urge the Centre against privatisation of the Salem Steel Plant," she said.
