: Tamil Nadu Governor Dr K Rosaiah today voiced concern over the decreasing moral values and increase in violence and terrorism in India, the hallmark of which is Unity in Diversity.

Inaugurating LOTUS', the replica of Swami Satchidananda's Light of Truth Universal shrine in Virginia, U.S.A, at his birthplace at Chettipalayam on the outskirts of the city, he said the world has become materialistic, filled with strife, trials and tribulations. It was thus imperative to strengthen the moral fabric and bonds of unity, he said.

"Revitalising the constructive forces to build the youth into citizens of strong body and mind and imbibing in them moral and spiritual values and a respect for humanity is the need of the hour", Rosaiah said.

"We are all connected by technology but completely disconnected at the human level of relationships. We share more time and energy with our gadgets than we spend with our families. We rely more on sensationalism than on simplicity", he said.

He hoped that shrines like LOTUS would evoke a sense of oneness and promote brotherhood and respect for all religions.

The 'LOTUS' was constructed on a 2.5 acre site with a tatue of Satchidananda and a meditation hall. Altars of various religions, including Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and Sikhism were unveiled on the occasion.
