Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosiah today heaped praises on the Indian defence forces, calling them the pride of our nation.
In his Armed Forces Flag Day message, he commended the forces' commitment to serve and their dedication and recalled the instances of chivalry during wars with Pakistan and China among others.
"The Defence Forces are the pride of our nation. Their outstanding qualities of courage and chivalry, loyalty and fortitude, sacrifice and discipline have placed India on a high pedestal," he said.

Strength, professionalism, valour and dedication coupled with modernization have made Indian Armed Forces take a pride of place among the nations across the globe, he said.
Their patriotism, devotion to serve, heroism and excellence in performance have made the Armed Forces win recognition for their remarkable capabilities, he added.
"The observation of Armed Forces Flag Day is to show our gratitude to those gallant men and women who laid down their lives and who were disabled in protecting our motherland from external aggressions and in guarding border and frontiers from the intruding terrorists," Rosaiah said while calling for generous contributions towards the Flag Day fund.
Lauding Centre's efforts to provide jobs to kin of personnel killed or disabled on compassionate grounds, he also patted Tamil Nadu government for extending reservation to ex-servicemen and their children in education and jobs.
