TN govt announces Diwali bonus for PSU employees

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam today announced bonus for Deepavali festival ranging from 8.33 per cent to 20 per cent, to benefit over three lakh employees of state public sector units, totalling Rs 221.75 crore.

A bonus of 20 per cent, including 8.33 per cent bonus and 11.67 per cent ex-gratia would be given to eligible employees with the state-run transport corporations, Electricity Board, Civil Supplies Corporation, Rubber Corporation, Forest Plantation Corporation, Tea Plantation Corporation, Tamil Nadu Milk Producers Union and public sector sugar mills, Panneerselvam said in a statement.

Workers with Civil Supplies Corporation would get 10 per cent bonus, in addition to the 8.33 per cent bonus given earlier and 1.67 per cent ex-gratia, he said.
 

While employees with profit-making co operative societies would get 20 per cent bonus, workers with district cooperative societies, who are not eligible for bonus would get Rs 1,500, and workers with primary co operative societies would get Rs 1,200 as dearness allowance, he said.

C and D group employees with Tamil Nadu Housing Board and Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board would get a bonus of 20 per cent, including 8.33 per cent bonus and 1,67 per cent ex-gratia.

While C and D group employees with Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Department would get a bonus of 8.33 per cent, contract workers and ad hoc workers in Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation would get a bonus of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively.

C and D group employees of Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation would get a bonus of 20 per cent, while the same category employees with state-run Poompuhar Shipping Corporation would get a bonus of 20 per cent, the Chief Minister said.

"In total, over three lakh PSU employees would get Rs 221.75 crore as bonus," he added.
