The Tamil Nadu government in association with Indian Institute of Technology-Madras today established a technology demonstration centre to work on reducing air pollution by industries.
A memorandum of understanding was today signed by officials of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and IIT-Madras in the presence of State Environment Minister M C Sampath to operationalise the centre, which will come up at a cost of Rs five crore, an official release here said.
Sampath had announced in the State Assembly that the Centre would be set up as it was becoming a challenge to regulate emissions produced by growing number of factories.
