Tamil Nadu government today sanctioned a dental college at Virudhunagar, aimed at benefiting the southern parts of the state.

Chief Minister K Palaniswami sanctioned Rs 50 crore for setting up the college, which will be only the second such state-run institution, a government release said.

A total of 100 students will be admitted and the move was in line with former Chief Minister, the late Jayalalalithaa's announcement in 2015 that a second dental college would come up in Tamil Nadu, it said.

"The move will enable students from South Tamil Nadu join dental studies," it said.

The only state-run Dental College was located here, the release added.
