TN Govt selects five sportspersons for specialised training

With an aim to bring more laurels to the State, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu has selected five young sportspersons, including three girls, for specialised training with a financial assistance of up to Rs 25 lakh each.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today presented the orders to K Premkumar (long jump), G Gayathri (100 metres and triple jump), A V Jayaveena (swimming), Aishwarya Nedunchezhian (sailing) and K Sathyan (table tennis), selected for the specialised training, an official release said.

The new initiative would extend a financial assistance of up to Rs 25 lakh to each sportsperson towards scientific training, high-class sports equipment, nutritious food and improving the skills of trainers.
