: PMK leader Dr S Ramadoss today demanded that the Tamil Nadu government provide Rs 25 lakh compensation to each of the families of 94 children who perished in the fire.
In a statement here, he referred to the Justice Sampath commission's finding which said 900 students had been admitted to the school without any infrastructure and that the offcials were mainly responsible for the tragedy.
He also referred to the High Court's direction to appoint the Justice Shanmugam committee to fix the quantum of relief for victims of the fire accident.

However the government had not taken any step to form the committee though the Supreme Court had also dismissed its appeal against the High Court's direction for the Justice shanmugam committee, he said.
Ninety four children were charred to death and 18 others seriously injured in the July 14 2004 blaze.
The school's founder was today sentenced to life imprisonment while eight of the nine others convicted were awarded five years in jail by a local court.
