Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah hosted a lunch for the visiting Japanese royal couple during their two-day stay as part of their ongoing Indian tour.
Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko were hosted by the Governor at the Raj Bhavan here which was also attended by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
The Governor presented a commemorative stamp album coinciding with the "historic" visit.

"This commemorative stamp is being released across India today and bears the images of two abiding symbols of our two countries- The Tokyo Tower and the Qutub Minar (in Delhi)," he said.
The Emperor and Empress later visited the Guindy National Park at Adyar which houses a variety of animals and reptiles.
Earlier, the royal couple stayed at the Presidential Suite at Taj Coromandel and their food menu included sumptuous south Indian refreshments and main course meal, the hotel management said in a statement.
