Lauding the efforts of
Coimbatoreans for converting the semi-rural area into a modern and cosmopolitan city, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah today asked others to emulate them and contribute towards 'Make in India' initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also appealed to Small and Large industrial houses, chamber of commerce and industry and others to play a participatory role in the development of Coimbatore city, which has been chosen for Smart City mission project.

Speaking after giving away 'Dharma Veera' award to G Bhakthavatsalam, Chairman of K G Hopspital here, he said for the past one century the entrepreneurial drive of the private sector had been propelling the growth and development of the city.
+Certain broad-minded, socially driver and dynamic individuals of the city have been consistently making significant contribnutions to transform what was once a small city nto what is now a futuristic city that is soon to acquire the smart city tag,+ the governor said.
Rosaiah also bestowed the 'Gem of Coimbatore' Award on G Vijayakumar, a business associate of Jewel One and K G Vijayakumar, Managaing Director of Kadri mills.
