Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosiah today

appreciated Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for her efforts to make the state an innovation hub and knowledge capital.

In his address at "Lii 2013," a lighting exhibition, he said Tamil Nadu was the second largest economy in the country with a growth rate of over 10.11 per cent in 2011-12.

"Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Vision Document 2023 aims at providing the best infrastructure facilities and services in India in terms of universal access to housing, water and sanitation, energy, transportation, irrigation, connectivity, health care and education.

"The mission of the Chief Minister to make Tamil Nadu an innovation hub and knowledge capital of India deserves appreciation," he said.
 

Energy efficiency serves as a powerful and cost-effective tool for achieving sustainable energy future, he said adding improvements in this area can reduce the need for investment in energy infrastructure, cut energy bills, improve health of Energy Utilities, increase competitiveness in the Energy Sector and improve consumer welfare.

"Solar street lighting and solar homes coupled with the introduction of energy efficient LEDs in all our lighting fixtures are expected to change the whole scenario," the Governor said.
