Commissioned by election authorites, 'Vote Podu', a peppy hip-hop song aimed at encouraging young voters to exercise their franchise without fail has hit the right chords on social media.
Even before a formal launch, the peppy single has begun attracting attention in social media and mobile messaging platforms.
Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni told reporters that music composer Paul Jacob has composed the music for the song which was rendered by Blaaze.

It appeals to the youth though it covers other segments of voters. The song calls out to professionals like doctors, engineers and specifies people in terms of relations like Amma, (Mother), Anna (Brother) and others and appeals to them to vote.
"Usually they used to have a slow song. The target audience is youth and we have gone in for a hip-hop number," Blaaze told PTI.
The four minute song is a "blend of thappattam, reggae and hip-hop", he said.
The lyrics were written by Paul Jacob and Blaaze.
