On the third day of the meet, Viraj Prabhu of Maharashtra bettered his own seven-year-old record by clearing the distance in 56.15s in the final heat. He had set a national mark in 100 meter freestyle event in 2005 clocking 56.64s.
Viraj's statemate Ishaan Mehra (57.74s) and N Sriniram (58.94s) finished second and third respectively.
Later in the evening, Ishaan, Viraj, Amitesh Raghav and Jason Smith clinched the gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay in record time of 8:43s, which was fractions of seconds better than the Karnataka quartet's national record of 8:52.47s set in 2009.
In the 800 meter freestyle for Girls group-II final, Maharashtra's Akansha Vora finished first with a new mark of 9:29.43s for the gold, while Nikita Bhaiya and Aishwarya Selakumar (both from Tamil Nadu) won silver and bronze respectively.
Like the Maharashtra boys proving to be the monarchs in relay events, it's the girls quartet of Antara Aharwal, Jla Kamate, Monique Gandhia and Aakankanaksha Vora who set a new meet record (9:07.69s) in the 4x200 meter freestyle relay final to finish with the gold.
In the girls butterfly stroke group II final, Daminik Gowda of Karnataka won the gold with a new mark of 1:06.61s followed by Sherlyn Meghna Devadson of Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra's Aakanksha Buchade.
