DMK Leader M K Stalin, who has been inviting various political leaders for the wedding of his brother's son, today said politicians of Tamil Nadu should also follow the practice in North India of attending family functions irrespective of being an ally or from the opposition party.
"Political parties in North India fight for their demands either it may be during elections or in the Parliament. But, they unite if the occasion comes to a family function. It has been a practice there. Similar trend should also be practised in Tamil Nadu", Stalin told reporters, after calling on PMK Founder-President S Ramadoss at his residence near here.
Stalin had also invited MDMK Chief Vaiko, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President E V K S Elangovan, DMDK Chief Vijaykant and PMK Youth Wing Leader Anbumani Ramadoss for the marriage.

Responding to a query on whether DMK would contest the bypoll for the R K Nagar constituency, Stalin said, "After the formal announcement from Election Commission, Kalaignar (M Karunanidhi) would announce the party's stand at the right time".
Bypoll to R K Nagar constituency has been necessitated following the resignation of AIADMK MLA P Vetrivel.
His resignation assumes significance ahead of the May 22 meeting of party legislators where its supremo Jayalalithaa is expected to be elected their leader, paving the way for her return as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
