TN names three more to hold talks with unions

: Tamil Nadu government today added three more officials to a panel it has constituted to represent it in talks with trade unions, seeking wage revision for state run transport corporation employees.

In a Government Order, it said that the director, Institute of Road Transport, financial advisor, state transport corporation (Tirunelveli) and Special Officer in transport department would also be part of the panel.

The government had already constituted a 11-member panel and with the new additions, it will be a 14-member committee.

On December 28 last year 11 trade unions affiliated to opposition parties had resorted to strike across Tamil Nadu seeking wage revision.
 

After three days, they called off the strike following an assurance by Transport Minister Senthil Balaji that the State would hold talks with them.

On January 2, the government constituted a panel to hold talks with unions.

It has additional secretary, finance department, P Umanath besides managing directors of all the eight State transport corporations as members.

The metropolitan transport corporation's managing director is the convenor of the panel.
