The Tamil Nadu Pipe Traders Association today urged the state government to grant them time to switch over to the new EC-Tax project, rolled out last month.
Talking to reporters here, President and Secretary respetively of the association S S Vijayakumar and A Nazir said the traders have to replace trading practices, which they were accustomed to, for decades and adapt to new computer operations that required basic training.
Most traders are not familiar with the computer forms, designed by the government, for making submissions.
Without proper training they would face hurdles, hence the government should give them more time to acquaint themselves with the latest technology, as it was not possible to immediately switch over to the EC-Tax project, the members said.
