Tamil Nadu government today proposed various road projects to the tune of over Rs 1,800 crore in order to ensure safe transportation and economic growth.
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced in the Assembly that a slew of projects will be taken up at an estimated Rs 1855.36 crore in the current year.
Accordingly, the government will expand the path used by devotees at the famous Thiruvannamalai Temple, from the existing seven metres to 10 metres, at a cost of Rs 65 crore.

Further, new road over bridges and road under bridges at railway crossings will be constructed at Salem, Vellore, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Madurai, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli at a cost of Rs 665.36 crore, she said.
Jayalalithaa also announced allocating additional funds to take up works under existing road-laying and expansion projects in Chennai and its suburbs, and expressed confidence that these efforts will help upgrade the infrastructure.
