TN seeks Centre to ensure adequate supply of coal

Tamil Nadu today sought the Centre to ensure adequate supply of coal to the state and allotment of railway coaches for its transportation.

Tamil Nadu Minister for Electricity P Thangamani, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, Chairman and Managing Director M Sai Kumar called on Minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal in New Delhi and made the request, an official release said.

During his brief interaction with Goyal, Thangamani requested him to allot coal on a daily basis, as the state requires 72,000 metric tonne of coal to generate power at the thermal power stations owned by the electricity board.
 

He also requested the union minister to allot 20 railway coaches for transportation of the coal to the State, the release added.
