A liver and pancreas surgeon of a city hospital has been appointed member of an expert committee for promoting laparoscopic liver surgeries in Asia Pacific region by the International Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association (IHPBA).
"Dr P Senthilnathan of Gem Hospital and Research Centre, is the sole representative from India to be appointed in this 20-member forum for a period of four years (2015-2018)," an IHBPA release said here today.
IHPBA has formed an Asia Pacific expert committee this year to develop new techniques and popularise laparoscopic approach to liver diseases in India and Senthilnathan was appointed to this committee, at its first meeting at Wuhan, China on June 19, it said.

Stating that generally liver surgeries were considered most painful and with more blood loss, he said in laparoscopic approach, even liver cancers can be treated with lesser pain and lesser blood loss.
